Sabah 2022

My family's overseas trip in 2022 was to Sabah, a part of Malaysia located on the northern part of Borneo Island, shared by Sarawak, Indonesian Kalimantan and Brunei.

The idea began in late 2019 when my mum, on her usual YouTube-watching routine, came across a travel vlog showcasing the lush greenery, blue sky and the overall peaceful atmosphere of Kundasang in Sabah. I vividly remember the highlight where cows graze on vast open fields, as one might see in New Zealand or a cow milk advertisement. We tend to have an annual overseas trip together, so we agreed to head there near the end of the following year.

Unfortunately, as we all know it, the travel plan was not going to materialise, and it will be so for another couple of years due to the travel limitations and whatnot with the pandemic.

We finally got to pull our luggage across the airport floor in the third quarter of 2022. It was incredible to fly overseas again after what seemed like forever, to the extent that I even rented a lens and a drone in addition to my usual camera gear. For travels with family, there is not much time for me to take photos or videos, so I usually stick to a light setup. This first post-COVID-19 lockdown travel was an exception.
